Jacques Cousteau - "the Sea of Cortez is the world's acquaruim"

Money Magazine - "La Paz is more a Mexican city than an expatriate's haven, but for those who love magnificent seaside sunsets, sugary beaches, sailing, diving -- and the ability to stretch a retirement dollar -- La Paz is a superb choice."

MESA VERDE ORGANIC GARDENS & ORCAHRDS

Considering the natural style of living offered by Mesa Verde Baja the organic gardens and orchards will be a center of attraction to all it's residents. More and more people, around the world, are aware of the importance and value of organic and balanced food consumption. This awareness and the dedication to self sufficiency will make the organic gardens a unique draw and asset of Mesa Verde. Land and home owners will be able to pick their own fruit and vegetables, go on educational tours and learn from the growers.

2 Hectares (5 Acres) of orchards will be dedicated to long cycle growing such as limes, oranges, lemons, mangos, papayas and figs. In addition to open air orchards, the emphasis will be on very estehic green houses with wide walkways that can produce many kinds of organic fruits and vegetables all year long. A 1/2 Hectare for short cycle short growing crop's such as tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, watermelons, onions, cabbage and strawberries. It is anticipated that gardens of this size can provide to 300 families (calculating by the American standard of 25kg of fruit and vegetables per person a year).

The organic gardens will be designed and built with emphasis on both efficiency, esthetics and community participation. All structures construction, irrigation system design, and all other aspects (planting, maintenance, growing, etc.) will be coordinated by Roni Simon, who is an expert in the area of commercial organic farming and has worked on large greenhouse projects throughout Mexico and internationally.

The Mesa Verde Organic Gardens and Orchards ( MVOGO) will be set up as a resident association owned non for profit cooperative, any excess cultivation beyond the co-ops needs will be donated the local community. Located at the base of the mesa, the land includes part of the "Llano de la Virgen" or "The Virgin Plain", which is an area of deep, rich soil, ideal for organic orchards with abundant, clear water underground that is some of the best water in Baja.
